The scientific community worldwide has united to organize a support network for war-stricken Ukraine. In recent days, many initiatives have emerged that offer concrete help and support. We present a few of them below.
The #ScienceForUkraine is an initiative for international practical support for Ukrainian scientists, professors, and students, which offers accommodation, opportunities for further study, scientific work, or continued research. All universities and scientific institutions may join the activities. Just fill out the form on this website. You may also take action on Twitter via the hashtag #ScienceForUkraine. Scientific centers include the hashtag in posts about the form of support they offer: opportunities to work at a university, participate in a research project, or accommodation. A map with information is continuously updated here.
The organization Science Europe has also appealed to support Ukrainian scientists and condemned the Russian invasion of Ukraine. The Foundation for Polish Science is a member of Science Europe, which is an association of more than 50 scientific organizations and institutions that fund or conduct scientific research, from 27 European countries. The full text of the appeal is available here.
The Polish Academy of Sciences has implemented a new program to support cooperation with Ukraine. The Academy will cover the travel and living costs of Ukrainian scientists at its scientific units, offering them a three-month-long stay in Poland, with the possibility of extension. For more information, see here.
Members of the Academy of Young Scientists - operating within the Polish Academy of Sciences - also prepare to host scholars from Ukraine. They offer free accommodation for scientists and their families, admission to a research group, along with a place, materials, and tools for work, but also possible stipends or paid jobs. Scientific institutions willing to join the initiative may apply here.
